LI-8100 Instruction Manuals

The following instruction manuals are provided in pdf format. Three versions of manuals are listed. Third generation manuals include information on the 8100-104 Long-Term Chamber, as well as the information in the second generation manual. Second generation manuals include information on the LI-8150 Multiplexer, and discuss embedded, application, and calibration adjustment software versions 2.0.0 and higher. First generation manuals should be downloaded for instruments with version 1.x.x software.

FV8100 is a Windows® application designed to view and analyze data files generated by the LI-COR LI-8100 Automated Soil CO₂ Flux System. FV8100 offers a very convenient way to view selected quantities or summaries of these files, as well as quickly plot meaningful analyses that let you evaluate the measurements. Editing and recomputations are readily done. FV8100 is not designed to be a producer of publication quality figures. It will, however, export the data for those figures as text files for importing into your favorite plotting package or spreadsheet.

The Calibration Adjustment program is a utility that allows you to make adjustments to the calibration coefficients of the gas analyzer present in the LI-8100. The gas analyzer's calibration polynomial relates absorptance to concentration. Ideally, this polynomial linearizes the instrument, so that if you zero and span, the instrument will then not only read correctly at zero and at the span value, but also at all other concentrations across the range. Factory calibrations,which determine the coefficients of the polynomial, are quite stable with time. However, if the analyzer's source or detector is replaced, or if significant dirt accumulates in the optical bench, then linearity errors that exceed specifications can result. If you determine that your gas analyzer's linearity error for CO₂ or H₂O is excessive, then you can make adjustments to the coefficients with the help of the CalAdjust.exe program. You will also need two span gases for CO₂, or an LI-610 to generate two known dewpoints for H₂O.
