The software can also act as a terminal to remotely control the LI-6400XT and to display measurement variables on your computer. This software flexibility is not available with any other photosynthesis system, and is an invaluable tool for classroom and seminar presentations.

LTerm and iTerm - Remote Control Capability via the Internet

Two new programs enable the LI-6400XT to be monitored and controlled from a remote computer via the internet.   The local component of this remote capability is named LTerm , and the Internet component is named iTerm. This powerful new method for remote control of the LI-6400 enables the instrument to be controlled, and its display viewed, from a remote computer while the LI-6400XT continues to operate normally. This gives our technical support staff the ability to diagnose many problems remotely.  

The connection is made using a special server (li6400.licor.com) which allows information to pass back and forth between the local and remote computers. The remote Internet connection requires no knowledge of network configuration parameters, and is completely firewall transparent. A local computer passes information to and from the LI-6400XT, and from there to the Internet and remote computer.

New Networking Possibilities

The new OPEN version 6, currently available with the LI-6400XT, opens a wide variety of networking possibilities, including:

1) Connecting the LI-6400XT to your Local Area Network (LAN), so that you can simply drag and drop your files between instruments, computers, and printers. When connected, each LI-6400XT will appear with a unique name (derived from the instrument’s serial number).

2) Configuring multiple LI-6400XTs in the same way, by moving configuration files between instruments.

3) Opening LI-6400XT data files directly from the instrument (no file transfer required) with your favorite spreadsheet or statistical analysis program.
